er

Luzes azuis rodavam freneticamente.
A pressa incutia esperança.

To whom that has just arrived here, "er" stands for "emERgency", just like the great medical show.
I'm sure you all know it.
No? In which world are you living?
Well, let's move on - it's getting late.
Yesterday I went to see Alexisonfire, a post-hardcore Canadian band. It's always nice to try something different. To see that the world keeps on spinning without we force it. Cancer Bats opened the stage. Nothing like irrational noise from someone screaming and jumping while holding the micro.
But, an hour before the bar doors opened, I was standing in front of Tivoli. The wife, her cousin and the little one were buying tickets to see the amazing park dressed for Christmas. The little one was obviously not interested, since he slept all the time.
On the other side of the street, just in between a MacDonald and a Burger King (2 houses apart from each other) there was an ambulance and an emergency car.
Blue lights spinning.
Four or 5 paramedics surrounded someone.
One of them was performing CPR to the unlucky that was lying flat on the ground.
It could be a scene from the ER show, but there were no cameras.
I looked around.
A whole city was moving. Each one going his way, doing his businesses.
And on the other side of the street someone was fighting to stay among us.
Soon after, both emergency vehicles left. Sounding loudly and with lights that suit the holiday's dressing. The hurry expressed hope.
A disturbing scenario.
A scene that was washed away when Bats Full of Cancer spat out the first chord, while their singer presented the song's name between unrecognizable words and other that started with "fuck" and ended in "ing".

a árvore do millennium

No entanto, hoje, enquanto ouvia música, procurava a música.

Don't say goodbye
let accusations fly
like in that movie
You know the one where Martin Sheen
waves his arm to the girl on the street
I once told a friend that nothing really ends
no one can prove it
So I'm asking you now
could it possibly be

E parafraseando o grande Jorge:
[Amigo,]
tira a mão de queixo
não penses mais nisso!

macgyver

These past days I have been playing the great MacGyver.
Using only a swiss-army-alike knife, I split wood and screws, threads and discs, glass and metal from everything at home. When all that was at the most humanly possible atomic state, I packed all similar pieces, again using only the knife to cut the packing material and the gluing material of the packing material. To a perfect scenario, it was only missing not to be listening the MacGyver theme.

Now, locked between 4 white walls, the little handy knife is of no good to me for solving all remaining problems. And while I think about possible solutions, I miss my little TV and all the little SHOWs that "she" had inside... what would MacGyver do in a situation like this? Would he be able to invent a TV by using only newspapers, food and the god's knife?
Certainly...

25th Hour

We'll drive.
Keep driving.
Head out to the middle of nowhere, take that road as far as it takes us.
You've never been west of Philly, have ya? This is a beautiful country Monty, it's beautiful out there, like a different world. Mountains, hills, cows, farms, and white churches. I drove out west with your mother one time, before you was born. Brooklyn to the Pacific in three days. Just enough money for gas, sandwiches, and coffee, but we made it.
Every man, woman, and child alive should see the desert one time before they die. Nothin' at all for miles around. Nothin' but sand and rocks and cactus and blue sky. Not a soul in sight. No sirens. No car alarms. Nobody honkin' atcha. No madmen cursin' or pissin' in the streets. You find the silence out there, you find the peace. You can find God.
So we drive west, keep driving till we find a nice little town.
These towns out in the desert, you know why they got there?
People wanted to get way from somewhere else. The desert's for startin' over.
Find a bar and I'll buy us drinks. I haven't had a drink in two years, but I'll have one with you, one last whisky with my boy.
Take our time with it, taste the barley, let it linger.
And then I'll go.
I'll tell you don't ever write me, don't ever visit, I'll tell you I believe in God's kingdom and I'll see you and your mother again, but not in this lifetime. You'll get a job somewhere, a job that pays cash, a boss who doesn't ask questions, and you make a new life and you never come back.
Monty, people like you, it's a gift, you'll make friends wherever you go. You're going to work hard, you're going to keep your head down and your mouth shut. You're going to make yourself a new home out there.
You're a New Yorker, that won't ever change. You got New York in your bones. Spend the rest of your life out west but you're still a New Yorker.
You'll miss your friends, you'll miss your dog, but you're strong. You got your mother backbone in you, you're strong like she was.
You find the right people, and you get yourself papers, a drivers license.
You forget your old life, you can't come back, you can't call, you can't write. You never look back.
You make a new life for yourself and you live it, you hear me? You live your live the way it should have been.
But maybe, this is dangerous, but maybe after a few years you send word to Naturelle. You get yourself a new family and you raise them right, you hear me? Give them a good life Monty. Give them what they need.
You have a son, maybe you name him James, it's a good strong name, and maybe one day years from now years after i'm dead and gone reunited with your dear ma, you gather your whole family around and tell them the truth, who you are, where you come from, you tell them the whole story.
Then you ask them if they know how lucky there are to be there.
It all came so close to never happening.
This life came so close to never happening.

curiosidade

Here, in the Denmark's Kingdom, there are yellow plate-signs warning drivers about speed sensors ("Attention Speed Control"), but with the following words:

HUSK FART KONTROL

Who does not understand Danish will find this situation at least awkward :)

fm @ last.fm

Sip by sip, Nando's radio presents another great song made in Tugolândia, aka Land of Tugas, aka Portugal.

And about radios, let me ask you: ever heard about last.fm?
Nop? So let me explain it to you. Last.fm is a web portal that allows its users to listen to a personalized radio while you do whatever you do in this computer world. You define what are your favorite bands and then they will be played to you, along with similar of those bands, and bands that people that listen to those bands also listen to. A great way to listen to what you like and discover new sounds at the same time.

If you wanna try it, then don't get surprised if, when you least expect it, FullMoon is played for you. That's because they are now broadcasting to the world. Oh yeah! With direct access right here.

Once again, enjoy the sound.

wisconsin strikes back

Privately, the most powerful man in the state country of Wisconsin shouts at me:

Wisconsin is a country since we have our own domain (.ws), dammit!

We did not get, however, any word regarding those "Girls of Wisconsin"...

prick

Não me consigo conter.

I can't help myself.
I have to share this with you all.

Here you find a YouTube movie. It's the videoclip for the song "Prick (i am)" of a portuguese band "MAU" (meaning "mean" as nasty). To be honest I never heard about this band before, but the song and the video are really crazy! The way it looks, no one was expecting the "bunnie"... just great!

portugal, portugal...

E indicou-me alguns vídeos a ver no YouTube.
Canta a plenos pulmões.
No coliseu do Porto.

A few days ago, Muse played in Campo Pequeno, Lisbon.
Probably the best show ever in that place. Which isn't that hard since the normal show is "killing bulls"...
I was not there. Logistic reasons.
But my younger sister was. And she pointed me to some videos in YouTube.
And, as I didn't have anything else to do [cof cof], today I've decided to see two or three of those videos. And I agree, it must have been amazing!
For all that I saw, I remembered the reason why Portugal has such good reputation among bands. Because of the audience.
Many bands that played in Portugal say that. Maybe they say it everywhere, but at least is true about Portugal.
But why is the audience so special?
Because they turn each concert into a great party. Very different from what you see/experiment in other countries. The portuguese audience does not shut up for one single minute. Sings at full thrust. On those "easy/famous" songs, the band singer does not even have to sing the song. The audience will do that. And between songs, there's no silence. Far from that. Here in Denmark, people just goes quiet waiting for the next song..
If it is not like that, then i was unlucky in the concerts I went to. Tomorrow I'll go to Iron Maiden, we shall see...
But, as a proof of what I say here, Radio Nando plays "Today" from Smashing Pumpkins, from their last concert in Porto, Portugal. Or should I say Coliseu - Porto (like the americans would do)? That was an amazing concert. Probably my favourite. Listen to it and tell me if you "notice" that difference.

wisconsin wild girls

Ora pegando onde deixei...
Em Virum coleccionamos a quarta derrota. Em cinco jogos! A coisa não vai mal :)
A culpa é toda dos xôres árbitros.
Começamos todos os jogos a ganhar. A primeira parte é toda nossa.

Desta vez apostei num título desconhecido: The Prince & Me.

Taking from were I left last time...
At Virum we were defeated for the 4th time.. In 5 games! Things are going great, aren't they :)
To blame are all referees, as usual..
We always start by wining. The first half, we lead. Then we don't have replacements. No fresh legs to keep take over tired ones. This last game, we had no one on the bench. Or, we had 1 but got injured.
No no.. this time wasn't me!

But well, after all that effort thrown down the pipe, nothing better that relax in front of the TV. This time I took my chances on a new movie: The Prince & Me.
The Danish crown prince goes all the way to USA after watching a movie of "Girls of Wisconsin". Something to say about it Steve?
Once there, he meets Paige (Julia Stiles) and the rest is a classic: Girl meets prince in disguise. Girl falls for prince. Prince reveals identity. Girl gets mad. Girl realizes she loves prince. Goes off to neverland to marry prince..
A soft movie... that is not bad just because Julia's talent.
But still, there's 3 details to mention.
Besides the real prince is married with an Australian and that part of the danish-side movie was shot in Prague, the most important was the fact how towns were introduced: "Copenhagen - Denmark" and "XYZ - Wisconsin". Since when Wisconsin is a country? Americans don't really see a difference here, do they? Do they really think that the rest of the world is not imagining Wisconsin as some south african country?

visitas

Bem, segundo me constou!
Desde Shakiras a Nelly Furtado, desde Muse a P. Diddy, contando com o Snoop Dog e o tótó do Justin Timberlake.
Sexta tivemos a visita do Pai-Natal.

It's sunday.
It's game day.
In 2 hours we play against VSH from Virum.
And while I wait for that, let me talk about what has been going on here.
Since last Wednesday, we have among us André that came to visit his girlfriend. Remember the good old times at the containers. I think he realized that something has changed. That the group is mainly portuguese people... what's the point of coming to Denmark if you wanna be among Portuguese people? Someone dubbed our time at containers as "playing little houses", and this year's group as "playing doctors".. don't ask me why... i have no clue what so ever..
The following day, there was lot going on. The MTV music awards brought a lot of celebrities to town. From Shakira to Nelly Furtado, from Muse to P. Diddy, along with Snoop Dog and the silly Justin Timberlake. Some people came across some of these VIPs, not me.
Friday we had the visit of Santa. Tuborg Santa. He came to deliver the X-mas beer. A big party as it would be expected. I believe that all Danes spend the whole year waiting for this day, the J-dag.

ohh.. have to run...

adivinhem quem chegou..

Batem leve, levemente,
Como quem chama por mim.
Será chuva? Será gente?
Gente não é, certamente
E a chuva não bate assim.

É talvez a ventania:
Mas há pouco, há poucochinho,
Nem uma agulha bulia
Na quieta melancolia
Dos pinheiros do caminho...

Quem bate, assim, levemente,
Com tão estranha leveza,
Que mal se ouve, mal se sente?
Não é chuva, nem é gente,
Nem é vento com certeza.

Fui ver. ...?

Follows a poem from Augusto Gil, which helps me setting up the question: guess who arrived?

Beating light, lightly,
As who's calling for me.
Is it the rain? Or people?
People are not, certainly
And rain does not beat in that way.

It is perhaps the wind:
But a little ago, just a little,
Not even a needle could be heard
In the quiet melancholy
Of the pines of the way…

Who beats, thus, lightly,
With so stranger slightness,
That can badly be heard, badly be felt?
It is not rain, nor people,
Nor it is wind with certainty.

I went to see. ...?
