where's time?

Run Forrest/Lola Run... and never look back!

Gotta run ;)

Life runs, never stops, never gets tired.
We, though, try to keep up, but sooner or later, all those nights of party with friends until late catch up with us and we end up by getting behind.

Run Forrest/Lola Run... and never look back!

And so it looks that the abortion topic is back to our mouths, so here lays my simple opinion:

A fried egg is not a fried chicken!

Gotta run ;)

And a new semester now starts.
And a new pack of youngsters from the whole wide world arrives.

Youngsters that bring a full charged battery stamped on their faces.
Youngsters that bring a huge and scary will of socializing.
Youngsters that wide open eyes talk to everyone at the same time, doing the best effort to make their poor english understandable.
Youngsters that although a semester of work is just starting, they cheer as the big holidays have just begun.
Youngsters that will initiate a small big adventure.
Youngsters that will interact with several other very different youngsters.
But that all shiver with the freezing cold on their way to S-Huset.

It's been 4 years now that me, André and Mário were these youngsters!

One night, during last Xmas, I sat at the piano with Gabriel on my lap.
At the beginning he was a bit suspicious of that device that was making some strange noises when I pressed those black and white things.
But he right after took my place and with both hands played a classic in C minor...
Even wit short arms, the result was a wide variety of tones.
Reaching the point that both hands were no longer enough. So he use his head to add the notes that sat between both hands.
Will we have a musician?

Meanwhile, throughout the past days, he has been looking to his mom using the keyboard while she chats with me. So today he decided to, in a very aggressive way, send a message to daddy, even without letting her finish her sentence:

Hrönn says:
so the question is would it be better for zzzzzs< k , b bbbbbbbbfdb bmjgh vhvvvvvnjhg c ub kf

Hrönn says:
bbb vv

Hrönn says:
b b vðdofccccccc vvvvvvvvvvvvvbÞÆ v

Hrönn says:
u nmjnnn´RF ,,jg

Naturally it's babyish, which I cannot translate.
So does this mean that we have another computer science in the family?

olha quem chegou...

E pois tá claro, acontecem coisas destas.

look who's back...

And here "she" is!
Just like that, 2 months after without a word, here she is without warning.
What a thing to do.
What a irresponsible thing.
And then of course, things like these happen.
A huge chain-accident today at the highway nearby, involving around 100 cars.
And that was probably because no one else was driving...
You see what you did?
Snow, you little devil...

de que tipo és?

Os 2 tipos de pessoas: os brinca na areia e os embora-pareça-não-batem-lá-muito-bem!

Ou será só 1 tipo: nós e o tão famoso homem da pá?

what's yours?

The 2 types of people: the play in the sand and the looks-normal-but-no-so-sane!

Or is it only 1 type: we and the so famous man of the shovel?

i'd like a virgin

We live in a strange world!
In a world that people get offended with my yesterday's personal message in messenger.
It was:

Umm, feel free to say no to this but... would you mind shaving my coin purse?

It is from, with no surprises, Family Guy.
Stewie says that after Brian walks in on Stewie shaving himself.
I think it is funny.
I think it's a little funny.
Maybe everyone that remembers that scene, thinks it's funny too.
But, all the rest may disagree.
They may think I'm rude. And that I am really asking people to shave my... coin purse!
For God's sake, why would I ask for that in the first place?

Shouldn't people think I was joking?
Shouldn't we live in a world that not everything is a big problem?
That people would not jump to crazy conclusions?

So, lay back and relax. While you take deep breath, listen to Personal Jesus, Depeche Mode's cover by Richard Cheese, taken directly from I'd Like a Virgin.

a verdadeira razão

the real reason

This is a very important post.
This is a post dedicated to to all foreigners that pays us a visit during the winter time, in special to my lady (as Figo says) and her parents... that got the impression that the great amount of kilometers done to get to us ported them to a remote past.

I borrow MAT (from the Evil Twins) words to show all that the cold does not bother us because there is a good reason warming up our hearts.
Here goes:

"Portuguese are Ecologic

I've been in other countries by this time of the year and there were only central heaters, fireplaces and other types of warming devices turned on on every place. Here is not like that, here the houses, buses, banks, schools and even hospitals, seldom have those modern things.
A lot of foreign people has no notion about this, because they think that the sun shines all year on our lands. And there is where they got it wrong, because we also have a few rainy and cold months, without those faggot heaters. Here we save petrol, natural gas, coal and wood; every day diminishing sources of energy. Yes, it is true my friends, the Portuguese people are in the very end an ecologic people.

It is part of the way of living, that children since early hours have to be in classes using a coat and sometimes gloves. It serves to strength their character, preparing children to the hard fight that, in the very bottom, life is. Many homes, beside not having heater, they also do not have double glass windows or thermal isolation. This can also be related to the ecologic thinking, since glass (thermal isolation is made of glass fiber) is nowadays still very available, but one day may end.

But all this, is not only about Ecology, because when the freezing cold gets inside the portuguese homes, under the windows or through cracks in the roof, we can trace a line directly to our glorious ancestors. Those brave sailors that sailed through huge storms and they also went through heavy cold and wet in their caravels. Feeling the cold in the skin, and all the way to the bone, is part of the Portuguese soul. And I even add, Fado was without a doubt invented on a cold and rainy night, shivering next to a fireplace. And not under the Sun, in some ""occidental Lusitana beach"."

lost americans

Sorry Steve, but I have to put this one.
Please check out this video at YouTube and see how well informed and how patriots are these fellow americans.

I particularly like the fact that no one knows where the middle east is, or what's going on there, but turning that into a huge crater would be just what the world would need... that and the fact that the north Korea is so much bigger than the south Korea.

Newsflash: new threats to the world: France, Italy and Germany. Watch out for yourself!!

descanso no dakar

resting at dakar

Today is day off on rally Dakar.
A very deserved resting day, specially to Carlos Sousa's copilot, the german Andreas Schulz, which was left behind alone on the desert for almost one hour, by our Carlos.
Carlos got mad with him... and off you go, cuz I don't like you anymore. And by the way, if you get thirsty.... call!

Oh Carlos Carlos...

smile

I am wondering if these 2 comedians, both danish, have been threatened of death, if their heads are worth 1.000.000 DKK (or 134.000 €) each and if more danish flags have been burned when the strip from January 1st 2007 was published, the one from my yesterday's post. It shows Jesus in a comic situation. Just like it happened a few time ago.. you remember?

Or are we just more civilized?

can't resist

Wulffmorgenthaler:

Thursdays is fish day at the canteen.
The classic fish fillet with french fries and remoulade.
After lunch, while having a coffee, my colleague ask his supervisor that was beside us:
- I seemed to noticed you didn't have the fish for lunch.
To which he answer with a rather suspicious look:
- I don't eat fish in that canteen.

no comments.

acordar

waking up

Although fighting at the beginning, they finally let go and get some rest.
I don't know if it was due to the coffee taken by the middle of the afternoon, or if it was due to the early hour of the night.
But I was tired. I need to sleep. And that continuous sleep until the waking time was what I was missing. Or so I thought.
And so it happened. I only woke up by the morning. And I still gave myself the pleasure to sleep for half an hour more. But it was that type of sleeping that is not sleeping, is fooling it. The type you get up worst than if you would have gone out of the bed before.
And for the first time in 3 weeks, I slept the whole night.
Without waking up now and then.
Now for moving to the side of the bed, half-turn away of falling and crashing on the floor. Then for, or receiving several slaps on any part of my face, or feeling something pulling my noose and eyelashes, while trying to pierce my eyes.
Although of not so good in resting level, this way of waking up fills my sight with little Gabriel focused in a mission to wake me up, and in the end, when noticing that I have opened my eyes, I get a huge smile. A smile that shows right away "mission accomplish".
Yes.. there's no doubt now.
This is really the best way to wake up.

And since today is the 10th day of this new year, I think it is a great time to wish you all that this one will be the best 2007 you have ever had.

back (to work)

E no trabalho.
